Meaning of Polygon:

Polygon: A polygon is a two-dimensional closed figure that is obtained by joining three or more straight lines. The joining straight lines are known as the sides of the polygon. A polygon has three or more vertices, angles, and sides. The point of the meeting of the two line segment is known as the vertex of the polygon.

A polygon has an equal number of vertices as the number of sides. The line segment that joins the two non-consecutive sides of the vertex is known as the diagonal.

Different Polygons on the basis of the number of sides are:

Three sides - Triangle

Four sides - Quadrilateral

Five sides- Pentagon

Six sides- Hexagon

Seven sides - Heptagon

Eight sides- Octagon and so on
