Range:

  • In statistics, the range of data is the difference between the highest and lowest values.
  • It can be used as a measure of variability.
  • For example, for the given data 3,5,7,4,8,9, the highest value is 9 and the lowest value is 3. So the range of the data is 9-3=6
  • In relations and functions, domain and range are important terms. The range is the set of all possible dependent values a relation can produce from a domain value. In a function, there will be exactly one output value for an input value.
  • For example, a function fx=x+1, the domain is all the values of xand the range is the corresponding values of fx.
