Question

What happens if lymphatic system is absent in our body?

Open in App
Solution

If our lymphatic system were not present in our body, we would not be able to drain the excess fluid, so our tissues would swell due to the accumulation of fluids and cells would literally drown, or become stagnant in the accumulated fluid and it would become the breeding grounds for infection. Even if small amount of fluid were allowed to accumulate over even a brief period of time it could lead to massive edema and the body would blow up like a balloon, tissues would be destroyed leading to tissue death. The dead, disintegrated cells, harmful bacteria and viruses will not be carried away from the lymph, so they will start accumulating.
