Solution

Dear student,
Mutations are the sudden changes that takes place in the DNA sequence of an organism. These are the permanent changes which can be either induced or occur naturally leading to the variation in the population. Mutations results from damage to DNA which is not repaired, errors in the process of replication, or from insertion or deletion of segments of DNA. It may or may not produce phenotypic changes.
Mutation in DNA causes alteration of DNA sequence resulting in changes in genotype and some times phenotype of the human and may cause may cause several genetic diseases like haemophilia, progeria and sickle cell anaemia etc.
