Question

what happens to the adsorption if the activation energy is increased??

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

Rate of adsorption will increase with the increase in activation energy and is given by -
Radp = k'px
where, k' = rate constant; p = partial pressure; x = kinetic order

Now, if this equation is expressed in Arrhenius form, we obtain -
Radp = Aexp (-Ea/RT) Px
where, Ea = the activation energy for adsorption; A = pre-exponential frequency factor
