What happens when a lead storage cell is charged? It behaves like an electrochemical cell or electrolytic cell?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

When a Lead storage cell is charged, chemical reactions start taking place in a reverse manner in the cell and it behaves as an Electrolytic cell.
When electrical energy is applied , a redox reaction takes place in the electrolytic cell:
2PbSO4 + 2H2O Pb +PbO2 + 2H2SO4
