  • It can order a re-poll in a constituency if electoral malpractice is detected.
  • It can also disqualify candidates who fail to follow relevant rules and laws.
  • It can also reduce the period of disqualification of candidates.
  • It also acts as a court of law for settling disputes related to allotment of electoral symbols and other such issues between political parties.
