Solution

An ionic bond is formed as a result of the electrostatic attraction between the positive and negative ions formed by the transfer of electrons from one atom/group to another.

A covalent bond is formed by the mutual sharing of electrons whereas an ionic bond is formed as a result transfer of electrons.
