Solution

Ionic bond: The bond which is formed by the complete transference of electrons from one atom to other atom as a result positive and negative ions are formed. These ions are held together through electrostatic force of attraction. This force of attraction is called Ionic bond,
e.g. The formation of Calcium Fluoride(CaF2),
CaCa2++2e
[Ar]4s2 [Ar]

F+eF
[He]2s22p5[He]2s22p6 [Ne]

Ca2++2FCaF2 or Ca2+(F)2.

The formation of NaCl,
NaNa++e
[Ne]3s1 [Ne]

Cl+eCl
[Ne]3s23p5[Ne]3s23p6 or [Ar].

Na++ClNaCl or Na+Cl

Covalent bond: The bond which is formed between the two atoms of non-metals by mutual sharing of electrons between them is called covalent bond, e.g., (figure below).
