Question

What is function of valves in circulatory system ?

Open in App
Solution

Valves ensure the correct direction of blood flow. The tricuspid and bicuspid valves prevent blood flow backwards from the ventricles to the atria during ventricular contraction. Semi-lunar valves found in the blood vessels leaving the heart only allow exit of blood from the heart through these vessels .The valves present in the veins also prevents the backflow of blood.
