What is global warming and greenhouse effect

Our earth is surrounded by green house gases like carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
It is covering the entire earth as a blanket.

This blanket will allow the heat energy from sun to enter inside towards earth. But it will not allow the reflected radiation to go out of atmosphere. So it is like oneway entry for heat rays. Heat rays can come inside the atmosphere but cannot go outside the atmosphere. Due to this the earth is heating up continuously. The average temperature of the earth is increasing slowly and glaciers are melting up. This is called as global warming.
The gases responsible for this are called as green house gases.
