The molecules in which one of the nitrogen bases (purine or pyrimidine) is bonded with a sugar molecule is called nucleoside.
$$Base + Sugar = Nucleoside$$.
When the phosphate group is attached to the nucleoside, the compound formed is called nucleotide.
$$Base + Sugar +Phosphate= Nucleotide$$.
