  1. In plants, response refers to the reaction against a stimulus at a specific area of electrochemical nature called the responsive region.
  2. The stimulus transmits from the perception region to the responsive region.
  3. Plants show two types of responses: positive and negative.
  4. The difference between positive and negative responses in plants is given in the table below.

Negative Response

When the response generated by plants against a stimulus is towards the stimulus, the response is called a positive response.When the response generated by plants against a stimulus is away or not in favour of the stimulus, the response is called a negative response.
An example of a positive response is positive phototropism.An example of a negative response is negative geotropism.
