What is the function of D-cells of stomach ?

Dear student.

D cell also known as delta cell are the endocrine cells of stomach. These cells secrete a hormone known as somatostatin. Somatostatin inhibits the secretion of growth hormone (somatotropin) from the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. It also suppresses the release of other hormones from the pancreas and digestive tract.
