Question

What is the Principle of Freezing?

Open in App
Solution

Freezing: Freezing is a phase transition phenomenon in which a substance transforms its state from liquid to solid below its freezing point.

Principle of Freezing:

  • When a substance changes its state from liquid to solid, the evolution of heat takes place from the body to its surroundings.
  • Due to the evolution of heat, the kinetic energy of liquid particles decreases, and their motion slowdowns.
  • After some time a point comes where the motion of particles becomes negligible and they come closer due to attractive forces and freeze to a solid-state.
