Stomata:

  2. Since most of the water (90%) is lost through stomata it regulates the level of excess water in the plant.
  3. Provided that the plant has an adequate supply of water, the water which is lost through the stomata is replaced by water from the xylem vessels in the leaf.
  4. During the day when the stomata are open, as the guard cells present at the two sides of the stomata keeps it open.
