Open in App
Solution

  • The male germ cell is called a sperm.
  • It is haploid in nature i.e. it contains 23 chromosomes in all.
  • It contains the sex determining chromosomes (X and Y chromosomes).
  • Half of the sperms contain X chromosome and other half has Y chromosomes.
  • If the sperm carries X chromosome it will combine with the egg's X chromosome to form a female zygote.
  • Whereas, if the sperm carries a Y chromosome it will result in a male zygote.
