Brahmadeya were villages or habitable land granted to Brahmins and inhabited entirely by them for their livelihood. In the early medieval period kings and royal people donated lot of land to the Brahmins. Guptas of the northern part of India and Satvahanas from south are vibrant examples of biggest givers of Bramhadeya.
