  • Sufism encouraged Hindu-Muslim unity.
  • Sufism popularised the Bhakti movement as it had similar principles to the Bhakti tradition.
  • Sufism helped to liberalise the state policy of many rulers. Indian rulers like Sher Shah Suri and Akbar stopped following orthodox ways and started treating all subjects the same.
  • Muslims began to show respect for Hindu gods and vice-versa.
