Open in App
Solution

Limitations of Newlands' law of octaves:

  • It was applicable to lighter elements and not throughout the entire arrangement.
  • Many elements discovered in future, did not follow the law of octaves.
  • Cobalt and nickel were placed in the same slot and in the same column with fluorine, chlorine, and bromine even though they possess different properties.
  • Iron with similar properties as cobalt and nickel was not placed with them.
