The correct option is A -1
When we divide 1000 by 7 we get the remainder as 6.
But, it can also be written as -1 as
6 - 7 = -1.
1000 can be written as:
7×142 + 6, where 6 is the remainder and 142 is the quotient.
Now,
To make it exactly divisible, if we remove 6 from 1000 it becomes exactly divisible by 7 but better than removing it, add 1 to 1000 and we get it by 6 - 7 = -1,
Since,
1000 - 6 = 994, exactly divisible by 7
1000 - (-1) = 1001,
exactly divisible by 7.
Both are similar methods to make 1000 exactly divisible by 7.
So, we can write the remainder as -1 or 6.
