According to formula
$\frac{E_{1}}{E_{2}} = \frac{l_{1}}{l_{2}}$
given
$E_{1} = 6$
$E_{2} = 6 - 2 m$
$l_{1} = l$
$l_{2} = \frac{l}{3}$
$\frac{6}{6 - 2 m} = \frac{l}{\frac{l}{3}} = \frac{3 l}{l} = 3$
$6 = 18 - 6 m$
$- 12 = - 6 m$
