When water becomes polluted, what effect does it have on the life of organisms living in it?

The addition of undesirable chemicals like pesticides, fertilizers, industrial and domestic wastes more not only kill the organism, they also cause diseases to the aquatic organisms. Besides, the requirement of oxygen by decomposing organisms is also increased, therefore there is a reduction in the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water which adversely affects aquatic life.
