Question

Which colour is observed on addition of universal indicator to table salt?
  1. Green
  2. Blue
  3. Yellow
  4. Red

Solution

The correct option is A Green
A universal indicator is used to determine the strength of an acid or a base. It exhibits different colours depending upon the concentration of the acid or base.

Table salt is a common name of sodium chloride which is neutral in nature as it is formed from the neutralisation reaction between strong acid and strong base. It is obtained by the neutralisation reaction of sodium hydroxide and hydrogen chloride. On addition of universal indicator to the salt the colour changes from white to green.
