Question

Which number is the multiplicative identity for integers?

___

Open in App
Solution

Mulitplicative identity is the number which, when multiplied with a number, results in the same number.

For example, if the multiplicative identity is x, then the product of x and a number a should be equal to a.

x×a=a

x=1

Or, we could say that 1 is the multiplicative identity, because the product of any number and 1 is that number itself.

5×1=5

3×1=3

and so on..
