The 73rd Amendment Act of 1992 has added a new Eleventh Schedule to the Constitution. This schedule contains 29 functional items of the panchayats. It deals with Article 243-G. The act provides for a three-tier system of panchayati raj in every state, that is, Panchayats at the village, intermediate, and district levels. Thus, the act brings about uniformity in the structure of Panchayati raj throughout the country.
