Solution

The correct option is C

It helps in soil erosion.

Topsoil is the top layer of soil, in which all plants grow. It is very important because it contains all the nutrients that plants need to survive. The preparation of the soil involves the turning and loosening of the soil. This brings the dead and decaying plants and animals from the bottom to the top layer of the soil. Thus increasing the fertility of the topsoil. The loosening of the soil allows the roots to penetrate into the soil and also enhances the growth of earthworms etc. This increases the humus content of the soil increasing the fertility of the soil.

Soil erosion is the eroding of the topsoil which lowers the fertility of the soil.
