Solution

The correct option is C Leghemoglobin
Leghaemoglobin is the pigment which is the present in the root nodules of the nitrogen fixing plants. The nitrogenase enzyme helps in the nitrogen fixation. It is sensitive to the oxygen as the presence of oxygen hampers the nitrogen fixing ability of the nitrogenase. Leghemoglobin has a high affinity for oxygen. It buffers the concentration of free oxygen in the cytoplasm of the infected plant cells to ensure the proper function of nitrogenase in root nodules.
