Fungi are a group of microorganisms that are multicellular, except yeast which is a unicellular fungus.
They lack chlorophyll and so cannot photosynthesize. They obtain nutrients from the dead and decaying organic matter and so are termed as saprophytes.
Some fungi are poisonous, but some like Agaricus bisporus (a kind of mushroom) are edible.
