Villi are small finger like projections located in the walls of the small intestine. Each villi is composed of a thin epithelium, blood capillary and a lymphatic vessel (lacteal). The epithelium helps in increasing the surface area for greater absorption of the digested food. Whereas, the blood capillary supplied with blood vessels take the absorbed food to each and every cell of the body. The lymphatic vessels absorb the fat molecules and ultimately send it into the bloodstream.
