Solution
The correct option is D
It is a primary standard substance
Properties of Mohr's salt:
(a) In the titration of Mohr's salt with KMnO4 solution, it acts as the reducing agent and potassium permanganate acts as the oxidising agent, 2KMnO4+10FeSO4(NH4)2SO4.6H2O+8H2SO4→K2SO4+2MnSO4+5Fe2(SO4)3+10(NH4)2SO4+68H2O
Since MnO−4 oxidises to Mn2+ it decolorises.
(b)Mohr's salt FeSO4(NH4)2SO4.6H2O contains two different cations Fe2+ and NH+4, and hence, it is classified as a double salt.
(c)It is a blue-green solid.
(d)It is used as a primary standard in volumetric analysis.
