Soap is a sodium or potassium salt of fatty acids.
The steps involved in the prepartaion of soap are:
1) Sodium hydroxide is dissolved in water.
2) Oil or animal fat is melted and added to it.
3) The above mixture is stirred and then allowed to heat.
4) Before the mixture solidifies, it is poured into a mould of desired shape and on cooling soap is formed.
