Solution

The correct option is B (ii) and (iii)
When receptors are activated in a neuron, the signal is transmitted. As a result, there is a transmission of new proteins and the insertion of more receptors in the cell membrane. So, the postsynaptic cell membrane is not destroyed and thus statement ii is incorrect.
The neurotransmitter is not permanently destroyed after the transmission of nerve impulse has taken place. It diffuses across the synapse and binds to the receptor molecule on the membrane of the second neuron.
So, option B is the correct answer.
