ADH (Antidiuretic hormone) or vasopressin facilitates water reabsorption in the DCT and collecting ducts, by increasing the sodium reabsorption.
Excessive loss of water from the body activates osmoreceptors in the hypothalamus, which stimulates the pituitary to release ADH.
An increase in the body fluid volume switches off the osmoreceptors and stops the production of ADH.
