Global warming is the phenomenon of a gradual increase in the temperature near the earth’s surface.
Fourier, the French physicist is credited for discovering that the atmosphere tends to retain heat, which would otherwise bounce off the surface of the earth – later it came to be known as the greenhouse effect.
Found by: Wallace Smith Broecker is credited to have popularized the term ‘global warming’.
Causes of global warming:
Deforestation: Forests are being depleted for many domestic and commercial purposes. This has led to an environmental imbalance, thereby giving rise to global warming.
Use of Vehicles: Vehicles burn fossil fuels which emit a large amount of carbon dioxide and other toxins into the atmosphere resulting in a temperature increase.
Chlorofluorocarbon: CFCs cause ozone depletion and harm the environment.
