Question

why decrease in charge density increases capacitance?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

The decrease in the charge density of the plates cause the decrease in the electric field inside the capacitor. As, the electric field decreases potential difference across the capacitor also decreases (EV). Now, the capacitor can store more change on it.
Thus, capacitance of the capacitor increases.
