Solution

Dear Student,

India was a very valuable colony for the British. I was a source or raw materials and market for British industries. Therefore, Britain did not want to lose control over India. Hence, they were very keen to suppress the revolt of 1857. They feared that if the revolt succeeded, they would lose control over India.

Regards.
