Question

Why do opaque objects cast a shadow, while transparent and translucent objects don't?

Open in App
Solution

Opaque objects cast shadows because they do not let light pass through them. Hence, they form a dark patch on the other side of the object. Transparent and translucent objects do not cast shadows because they let light pass through them. Hence, they don't form any dark patches.
