Question

Why do people not bargain in shop located in malls whereas they bargain in weekly markets?

Open in App
Solution

In malls and big retail shops, the prices are fixed by the shop-owners. They have to pay huge amount of rent to the mall owners. This leads to increase in prices of the goods. The people who visit the malls are generally middle or high class people who want to buy good quality products. They are ready to pay hefty amount for quality products that is why they do not bargain. But in weekly market, the low class people go to buy stuff. Since they have limited amount of money to invest so they bargain to save some amount with them.
