Solution

Redheads:

  1. Redheads refer to people with red-coloured hair and it is observed in only 1-2 % of the human population.
  2. It is found in people who have a recessive allele on chromosome 16 that results in the production of the altered MC1R protein.
  3. The pigment responsible for the red color is pheomelanin.
  4. The skin of a redhead is thinner compared to others and is derived from the ectoderm.
  5. Teeth enamel is also derived from the ectoderm and thus is thinner than usual.
  6. Since the enamel coating is thin, the inner layer of tooth-dentin is more visible and offers a yellowish appearance.
