Question

Why do the two sexes have to be different for participating in sexual reproduction? Is it just for variation?(2-3 marks)

Solution

The meaning of sexual repoduction itself is "the production of new living organisms by combining genetic information from two individuals of different types (sexes). In most higher organisms, one sex (male) produces a small motile gamete which travels to fuse with a larger stationary gamete produced by the other (female)".
Which implies that the process can be done only when 2 sexes are present.

But also there are homosexual(
both maleand female sex organs present in a single organism.) and hetrosexual organisms too.
