Open in App
Solution

Corrosion: Corrosion is the slowly eating of the metal surface due to the oxidation of metal by the oxygen and moisture present in the air.

Corrosion needs to be prevented due to following reasons:

  • Corrosion leads to the loss of purity of the metals.
  • When its purity is lost, the appearance of the metal also gets compromised as it loses its luster.
  • If it is left unnoticed, the corrosive attacks on the metals can greatly affect their structure of the metals.
  • It is also dangerous to humans. Example: A cut caused by the rusted piece of iron leading to tetanus.
