Why does a moving swing move faster when pushed by a person?

When a swing is pushed forward by a person, the swing is imparted a force that can accelrate the swing.
Hence the velocity of the swing is increased and hence the swing can move faster. The swing acquires maximum speed when, the swing is pushed at it's resonance position.
