Question

Why does blue light travel the shortest distance and red the longest distance?

Open in App
Solution

Prisms bend red light the least and violet light the most. Light is refracted in the first place because it slows down in the glass. Therefore violet light slows down the most and red light the least. That means red light moves faster than blue light. Longer the wavelength, greater the speed of light.
