Euglena is called plant animal because it can synthesise food as it has chloroplats inside it.Unlike plant cells it does not have a cell wall.It has a protein covering on its cell called pellicle. It also can feed like animal by ingesting food when the light is not available. So it has charecters of both plant and animal.Hence it is called plant -animal. Mostly because of the method of its nutrition it is called plant-animal.

Scientific names help in understanding of the prganism .Because world has number of languages nad in each language there is a different name of reach organism.So to have a common understanding by all people,scientific naming in given.
