Why is friction considered a necessary evil

Friction is the force that works against any action. say a ball is moving on the ground, it is friction that work against the direction of the ball which helps it to roll farther. so it is a evil that work against our actions but its necessary in order to complete them.

Friction is considered as a necessary evil as even if it causes wear and tear and loss of input energy, it is required by us and to sustain life on earth as without it our life would not be possible.So in a nut shell , friction has both advantages and disadvantages and so it is considered as a necessary evil
