Why is the atomic mass unit (amu), rather than the gram, used to express atomic mass?

Open in App
Solution

1 atom of N has a mass of 14.007amu×1.6605×1024g1amu
=2.326×1023 g
Since it is not practically possible to measure this much of mass. Therefore we use a different tool to measure atomic mass that is Atomic mass unit(A.M.U.)
