Question

Why is tungsten used for making filaments in an electric bulb?

Solution

Tungsten metal is selected for making filaments of  lamp bulbs because tungsten can sustain high temperatures and it has high melting point, combined with the fact that it also has high resistivity.

the pure tungsten has high resistivity and high melting point, so electric energy change into heat and light energy.
