In the above figure the unknown resistance is $S$
Let $l_{1}$ be the length at which the galvanometer shows zero reading, $l_{2} = 100 - l_{1}$
So according to wheatstone bridge condition
$\frac{R}{l_{1}} = \frac{S}{l_{2}}$
$S = \frac{R \times l_{2}}{l_{1}}$
