Question

With the help of a circuit diagram, obtain the expression for equivalent resistance of two resistors connected in parallel.


Solution

Lets resistance $$R_1, R_2, $$ are connected in parallel resistance circuit. Then the equivalent resistance of the circuit is given by 
$$\dfrac{1}{R_{eq}}= \dfrac{1}{R_1} + \dfrac{1}{R_2}$$
So in the given circuit the equivalent resistance is
$$\dfrac{1}{R}= \dfrac{1}{2}+\dfrac{1}{6}$$
$$ R_{eq}= \dfrac{3}{2} \Omega $$
